Therapy

Troubled teen

Any therapeutic work would have to be based upon a comprehensive assessment of therapeutic need.

The assessment involves:
  • Obtaining and reading background information
  • Meeting with present carers and professionals
  • Meeting with the young person
From all the information gathered we would write a comprehensive assessment report which would cover the following points:
  • Risks
  • Aims and objectives
  • Conclusions with regard to therapeutic need
  • Recommendations for any therapeutic work
We believe that each treatment package needs to be uniquely developed to meet the young person's need, there are however a number of principles which underpin all of our interventions.
  • That where necessary, and appropriate the therapist will be proactive and directive in the content of the session
  • The work should be inclusive of current carers
  • That adults are responsible for making decisions about young people, with due consideration and respect for their wants and needs
  • That safe nurturing touch has to be part of any therapeutic package of care
We do not utilise one specific therapeutic tool in our delivery of the model. Our therapists are able to draw upon a wide variety of therapeutic interventions including:
  • Psychotherapy
  • Cognitive Behavioural Techniques
  • EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitisation Reprocessing)
  • Hypnotherapy
  • Play therapy
  • Timeline work
  • Transactional Analysis
  • Adult Attachment Interview
